Tension Rod Hacks For Your Home

Need a cheap and easy solution to organize your home? Tension rods are the answer. They can be used as product dividers or even hangers for jewelry, cleaning products, and clothes. The options of what to do with a tension rod are endless and can also be used as a design element in your home too - how awesome! Tension rods can be utilized in cabinets and drawers or on shelves, horizontally or vertically. Try hanging them vertically on a shelf. You can now easily divide cooking sheets, cutting boards, or big platters. When using tension rods as horizontal dividers, put them in your plastic container drawer. Put two rods close together so that container lids will be tucked nice and neatly in between them. No more searching for lids! Next, let's head under your kitchen sink. I know, the dreaded under the sink space. This can be a tricky spot to tackle, but tension rods can add a quick fix. Hang a rod right under the sink, leaving space to be able to hang cleaning spray bottles. You can...

Top Three Laundry Tips

Laundry is my favorite chore. Now I know what you're thinking, "Is she crazy?" But the laundry room is my favorite space in my home and that's not by chance, I set it up that way! Here are a few things to consider when beginning an organizing extravaganza in your laundry room: make sure you can see the wash products that you have, your washer/dryer are in an area that is accessible to you, and add special touches to make it feel like home. Decanting should be a sport. In fact, yes it definitely is a sport what am I saying? I like to decant powders such as borax or washing powder in tall glass jars with lids, and liquids such as detergent or bleach in glass dispensers with a spout. Keep them on a shelf above your washer and dryer for quick and easy access. You will easily know exactly when you need to re-fill! Before our laundry room renovation started, the room was a mess. It was super chaotic not to mention my dryer wasn't even inside my house! I dreaded going in...

Should I Hire a Professional Organizer?

Should I hire a professional organizer? The answer is yes, obviously! But lets talk about why you should hire one. There are a few popular questions that I get asked often concerning hiring a home organizer; what am I getting for my money, I can just do it myself can't I, and will I be able to stay organized. The answers are simple, so stick with me. When you decide to hire an organizer to come into your home, the best part about it is the final reveal, right? The behind the scenes stuff that you don't see is important too. You are not just paying for that final reveal, it's the ideas and research as well as the planning and design. There's fun in every step for me and I love being able to share that with you and all of the other feels as well! Now I'm sure you're thinking, well I can just get some ideas from Pinterest and rack my Amazon credit card up a bit. Listen, everyone is capable of organizing to some degree. Some are actually pretty good at it, but thei...

How Do You Clean Your Room?

I remember back in the day when my Mother would ask me to clean my room. It was as if it was the worst thing that could have possibly happened. The feeling of "being an adult" yet being told to clean my room was insulting. Looking back, I wish I would have known then what I know now - being organized is the s**t! Here are five easy steps you can take towards a clutter-free room:   The first thing that I do before I get ready for the day is make my bed. There are two reasons that I do this. One, it will immediately create a sense of calm in your room and two, if you accomplish nothing else that day, at least you made your bed. Either way, you're going to feel great after doing it!   Remove anything and everything that should not be in your room. For example, tableware, toilet paper, and your pizza from the night before should not be in your bedroom. Just keep in mind if there is something that normally belongs in another room you should probably return it. Is it laun...

ORGANIZED IN BUSINESS

This post is a very special one to me, do you want to know why? Because my Momma wrote it! Her keys to organizational success in the workplace are ones that can be applied in any job setting. I hope you apply some of her knowledge into your own life and I would love to hear your spin on her suggestions. Happy reading! As someone who used to work as a secretary to a vice principal, I found that prioritization and organization are keys to success.  First, communicate with your boss daily as to which tasks require immediate attention and which ones don't.  I liked to make columns on my desk of all that needed to be done.  I would stagger the papers so that I could see everything at a glance and grab what I needed quickly.  If your space is cluttered and you can't find what you need, it makes it very difficult to work efficiently.  I always had in the outer corner of my desk a tray with two levels (you can have more if you prefer).  The top section wa...

YEARLY CLEAN-UP SCHEDULE

Hi! I've been going through my list lately of what I want to accomplish cleaning in the house before winter comes because, well, spring isn't the only time that you should clean! There are obvious items on this list, and then there are others that you're going to scratch your head and think, have I ever cleaned that? Don't worry, no matter what there is always going to be that one spot that you dread cleaning every day, week, or even every season and that's OK. This list isn't supposed to create stress, it's meant to act as a guide. We all need direction at times, and any clean is a better direction than no clean. So put on your favorite Brittany song and get to work! EVERY WEEK:   Mop kitchen and bathroom floors Clean mirrors Dust Vacuum floors and furniture Change bedding Toss expired food Wipe down kitchen counters and appliances  Wipe down bathroom counters Clean inside microwave EVERY MONTH: Vacuum vents and woodwork Dust and clean light fixtures Dust ...

FIRST KBOC CLIENT!

Image
Pantry/Laundry Room || Friday 10/2/20 This was in the home of my first KB Organizing Company client. It was exciting, fun, and very rewarding to create this organized space. My client welcomed me into her home with open arms and let me completely take the reigns when it came to organizing and designing this space which is the definition of the perfect client! Here are the steps that I took to take this room from cluttered to clean! Removed everything (not the laundry machines) Grouped "like" items together to see what and how much I had of every item Wiped down all surfaces and vacuumed the floor Placed product to be aesthetically pleasing  Placed clients items back in according to zones (cans together, oils together, etc.) The best part of this job was the reveal. My client walked in and was shocked . Her mouth literally hit the floor and was just thrilled with how it turned out. She even told me she was impressed and proud of me! I will be going back into her home to org...

HEY, IT'S KELLY!

Hey! Here I am on a Saturday night, laying in bed, writing my first blog post. I've always imagined that I would have a blog, but to be honest, never knew what I would actually be writing about. With this blog, I'm hoping to write every week about my organizing adventures and have guest writers' work displayed as well. Today, I filled out the online forms to make KB Organizing Company a legal Maryland business. I can't tell you how excited I am for this, it's official! My business cards are also here and I am so proud of them. The colors are gorgeous and the quality is professional. These last few months have been hours of hard work and dedication, but all so worth it. In addition to my blog I also have a Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter account for KB Organizing Company. Seeing the interactions between platforms and well as interactions that I get to have with my followers is really fun. My goal is to make a difference in the lives of my clients, as well as my f...
